Playschool

The Noah’s Ark Playschool Program is a program for 3-4 year olds. It was the first of it's kind in the ACT and provides children with opportunities for learning and development and operates at The Shepherd Centre,Nealie Place RIVETT.

Playschool learning outcomes

The Playschool program aims to prepare children for the transition to formal schooling embracing the five learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework.

1. Children have a strong sense of identity.
   Children feel safe, secure and supported, sharing ideas, relating to others, doing things for themselves, making their own choices, coping with frustrations, developing pride in oneself and one’s accomplishments. 
    
2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
   Children experience mutually enjoyable, caring and respectful relationships with people and the environment. Playschool children participate collaboratively exploring the environment with all their senses, actively manipulating objects and materials to understand new concepts and mastering basic problem solving skills.
    
3. Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
   Physical activity embracing fine and gross motor skills. Learning about healthy lifestyles, nutrition and social interactions.
    
4. Children are confident and involved learners.
   We provide learning environments that are flexible and open-ended by following and extending your child’s own interests. Children are encouraged to develop their creativity through exploration of different materials and expression of their own ideas.
    
5. Children are effective communicators.
   Playschool combines all models of communication including music, movement, dance, storytelling in a play based environment. Listening skills and verbalising ideas, pre-reading skills such as recognition of symbols are also implemented.
   

Class structure and activities

The Playschool class routine is structured to provide time for the development of all the key focus areas. A class consists of group time, art and craft time, outdoor play, table and floor activities, movement and music.

FEES FOR PLAYSCHOOL 2023 is as follows: $12.20 per hour -

4 hour session $488.00 per 10 week Term

5 hour session $610.00 per 10 week Term
